Driving with the roof off is one of the best parts of owning a Bronco. A little planning makes it easier. Run through this list before the panels come off.
1. Know which panels come off
On the hard top, the front panels over the driver and front passenger unlatch from inside the cabin. The 4-Door also has a middle panel, and both body styles have a rear section. On Ford's molded-in-color hard top, the front panels weigh roughly 13 to 16 lb each, while the rear section is about 68 lb on the 4-Door and about 80 lb on the 2-Door, so plan on two people for that one.
2. Decide where the panels ride
Loose panels can slide around and get scratched. Our Freedom Panel Storage Bag holds the front panels upright, strapped to the rear headrests, with a soft lining against the panels. It's listed for 2021-2026 2-Door and 4-Door hard tops.
3. Plan for the sun
With the roof open, the sun comes straight in. Our Full-Length Sunshade is a mesh shade for the 4-Door's open roof that attaches with bungee cords, with no drilling.
4. Secure loose items
Wind can lift light items off the seats and dash with the roof open, so give things a place. On the 4-Door, our Rear Door Storage Pockets replace the rear door nets with steel pockets.
5. Mount your phone
Our Magnetic Phone Holder mounts on the driver-side A-pillar. Its listing notes that the magnetic hold may not be enough on rough trails or with thick cases, so take the phone down before rough terrain.
6. Give passengers a handle
Our Aluminum Grab Handles come in front-seat, rear-seat and 4-piece options; the rear-seat handles are listed for the 4-Door. Universal paracord headrest handles are another option for rear-seat passengers.
7. Check the forecast
If there's a chance of rain, bring the panels along in their bag rather than leaving them at home.
8. Roof rack owners
If you plan to add our roof rack cross bars, the listing says the roof panels can't be removed while the rack is installed.
